Why your Church

should talk about

Mental Health

‘That’s great, but what do I do on Monday?’

Having been a Christian for decades, I have attended countless conferences, services and events. Many times I would leave events having been given loads of great spiritual instruction, with this question in my head. ‘That’s great, but given that I am dealing with real personal and tangible crises, what do I do on Monday?’

How do we met the needs of our people in a practical and pragmatic way, while still acknowledging the incredible role our faith plays in our everyday lives? To this end, I have always sought to use the platform I have been given to spread a message of hope, wholeness and encouragement to live well with the brain and the body God has given us.

When I was diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety as a Christian, I did a deep dive into the practices that would help me to manage and deal with my own mental health, and then did what every speaker, teacher or preacher tends to do.

I started talking about it to my audiences. And the feedback with phenomenal.

“What a funny, genuine lady with a message that needs to be talked about in and out of church!”
Thanks Julia for your practical, no nonsense sessions. Loved how you wove your speaking, songs and life story together.
I felt so peaceful and calm tonight for the first time in a while.
